Thursday night Missy & I photographed Rachel & Russell’s *hot* Engagement Session. It was SO hot, in fact, that I can only post a few of the outdoor stuff we captured before it was completely dark out. Enjoy!

Every so often I have one couple who I click with so well that I wish they could get married over & over again…because I just don’t want to believe the wedding day has come and gone. Megan & Scott are one of those couples. We have a lot in common…Megan was a single Mom who met Scott at work, (which is exactly how I met Hot Husband), our love for our Irish heritage, and our strong sense of family, to name a few. Megan & Scott are so laid back and fun to be around, and although the weather outside was cold and brisk, we were greeted with so much warmth when we arrived at Megan’s parent’s house that we immediately felt right at home.
Missy was my 2nd shooter for the day, and I had Lindsay, one of my 2008 Brides, as my assistant. Together they are my dream team, and I can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work throughout the day.
*Warning…HUGE blog post ahead…

An Irish wedding coin, which Megan kept in the pocket of her dress.

Would you look at those shoes?

Megan’s beautiful bouquet had a mix of peonies (my absolute favorite flower…they smell heavenly), roses, and tulips. It smelled so good I wanted to walk around with it in my hands all day.

Her makeup was done by Mallory of The Dump Boutique & Image Studio in Marcellus. She told me that Megan used to be her babysitter when she was little, and even back then she would practice putting makeup on her, lol! She did a wonderful job, and I highly recommend her!

Megan’s sister, Sarah, helping her daughter with her jewelry.

Sarah & Megan’s Mom helping her finish up. I love that Megan bought all of her wedding jewelry from artists on Etsy. Doesn’t she look stunning?

Their ceremony was held at Holy Family in Camilus.

One of my favorite parts of the day is my time with the Bride & Groom. Throughout the day it had snowed, rained and hailed, but thankfully it stopped long enough for us to get some portraits outside. It was *freezing*, and I have to give huge props to Megan for being such a good sport. Andy, their chauffeur, let us borrow his coat to keep her warm in between shots.

These next few are my favorites!

I love it when bridal parties play in the street!

Scott & his best man, Scott. Lol.

Thank you for braving the cold for this shot, girls!

Megan & Scott’s reception was held at Drumlins Country Club. I cannot thank their Event Manager, Angie Petrarca, enough for all of the hospitality she extended us. The food was terrific, and she accommodated all of our needs. I can’t wait for my next opportunity to work with her.
On to some dancing…here’s their first dance as husband & wife.

This one was bringing me to tears.

Entertainment was provided by Ted from Twist and Shout Productions. I’m looking forward to working with him again in the future!

Scott is a huge Syracuse fan, and he actually proposed to Megan on the jumbotron at the Carrier Dome.

The rings.

I’ve been wanting to set up an area to get more candid shots of guests, and this was the first opportunity I’ve had to experiment with that idea. I call this the Candid Corner, and Drumlins has the *perfect* area for it. Unfortunately, the way it worked out I ended up giving Lindsay my backup equipment to shoot it while I was taking shots of the formalities. She did a fabulous job for her first time shooting with me!

And last, but not least, (I can’t believe I’m posting this, lol), a shot from the Groom himself of him and yours truly. Maybe he’ll be a 2nd shooter someday?

The Oldest is in track this year, and last night was his 2nd meet. (His first meet was last Saturday, and I couldn’t attend since I was 2nd shooting for Genevieve.) I didn’t miss much that time as he was just doing the high jump and according to him it didn’t go very well. He’s been having some problems with his ankles, and he just couldn’t make the jumps. He was supposed to jump last night as well, but asked his coach if he could drop out since his ankles weren’t doing any better. That left him with the 100 and the 4×100 relay.
It was a week ago that we took him up to Fleet Feet to get fitted for some special track shoes. (Spikes?) I was very impressed with the friendly, knowledgeable staff, who helped him find just the right shoe for his events. Most of us pick shoes based on their appearance first, which was what he tried to do, but based on his events and shoe size they only had 2 for him to choose from…a pair of black and green shoes and a pair of bright gold and blue ones. Since his favorite color is green I thought for sure he’d pick the black and green pair, but he surprised me and went with the gold pair because they were more comfortable. I have to be honest….they’re kind of hideous, lol. We picked on him during the drive home and told him he’d better do well if he was going to run in gold shoes.
Well, last night he came in 1st place in his very first race of the season, so he’s earned the right to wear those gold shoes, after all! I’m one proud mom, and I was so glad I got to be there to witness his moment! Below are a few shots from his race. I can’t get on the track for a better angle, so these will have to do.

Here he is practicing for the relay. You can get a better view of the shoes here.

He was the first leg of the relay. Again, I didn’t have a better place to shoot from.![]()

What better way to celebrate than with some new Under Armour and some gold balloons to go with your shoes?

Saturday I had the wonderful privilege of starting the 2010 wedding season off 2nd shooting for Genevieve Fridley. Genevieve and I met through Twitter, and it has been great to have a local photographer close who is incredibly talented, shares the same business ideals and is also a genuinely nice person to be around. I enjoy 2nd shooting at times because it allows me to do what I love to do without all of the pressure of being the main photographer who has to “get the shot”. A 2nd shooter can experiment with angles, lighting, focal lengths, etc., and if it doesn’t work out….well…that’s OK.
Tyson & Mo are a *gorgeous* couple (Mo reminds me of Angelina Jolie) and were so laid back and cool, as were their friends and family. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to be a part of their military wedding.
As always, here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!
Their ceremony was held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, NY.

Mo’s dad trying to calm her nerves before they walked down the aisle.

I had a few moments with Mo and her bridesmaids while Genevieve was with Tyson and the groomsmen.

During their first dance.

And yes, a ring shot.
