{Happy New Year!}

Happy New Year!  2009 was an amazing year for Lisa Walsh Photography, and I have so many people to thank for it.  Thank you to Hot Husband for your support and for believing in me.  Thank you for being my rock when I had doubts, for being my sounding board when I needed someone to bounce ideas off of, and for being my co-pilot through this crazy ride.  Thank you to my kids for your unconditional love, for understanding that Mom’s work doesn’t end when the camera is put away, for being so happy with takeout when I lost track of time sitting at the computer and realized I hadn’t fed you dinner,(I know that’s hard, lol.) and thank you for dragging me away from work to play the Wii with you.  Thank you to my peers, who share my belief that by working together we can better the photography industry, and for the referrals that have played a huge part in allowing my business to grow.  I look forward to doing the same for you!

A new year deserves a new website, and I’m thrilled to announce that the brand-spankin’ new lisa-walsh.com is live!  After 2 weeks of hard work I was so happy to share it that I couldn’t wait another day.  Did you notice the blog had a makeover, too?

I can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring.  Happy New Year!

{Abandoned; XII}

I’ve had my eye on this one for a while, but was waiting for something other than an overcast day in which to photograph it. When I woke up this morning to fog, I quickly grabbed Junior and a couple of lenses and headed out the door. What I soon realized, though, was for the fog to show I had to be a certain distance away from the house, and that just wasn’t going to work with the location it sits on. I had a hard time working around power lines, and it turns out I’d left the lens with the focal length I needed at home. In order to get fog in the shots I also would’ve had to include a lot of poles and power lines, and that wasn’t something I was willing to do. I went ahead and took a couple of shots, anyway, but I’ll probably go back and revisit this one at some point.

Yep, I’m back to the white frame. I tried it without for a while and I just prefer it this way.

{Behind The Scenes}

Like any other photographer on the planet, the off season is a time to work on behind the scenes stuff that goes into running a business.  You know…making goals for next year, thinking about advertising, working on marketing materials, updating pricing info, and the big one…a website makeover.

I had the pleasure of working with 10 couples in 2009, and that means I have a ton of fresh new images to show off.  Using Showit to design my site means I can do much more than just insert images into a template.  I have the ability to recreate my site from the ground up, and although it’s time consuming I love having complete control over the look of my website.  I spent a good part of the day yesterday working on the update, and I wanted to show you a little sneak peek.  I’m hoping to have the new site live on 1/1/10, so be sure to check it out and let me know what you think!

{At The Tree Farm}

This image was supposed to go on our Christmas cards, but I was multi-tasking when I ordered and accidentally used the wrong image.  I’ll surely be fired for next year as our Photographer as Hot Husband was already picking on me for bringing Big Daddy with a nearly dead battery. (I had to keep it warm in my pocket in order to get the dozen or so images I was able to take.)  He’s already threatened to take next year’s picture with his 3 megapixel Sony Cybershot, lol.  If I hear one word about my latest mix up I just might let him…I’m through working for free!
