{This Really Shouldn’t Come As A Surprise To Anyone}

Really.  As my friend & mechanic puts it, I’m a “car chick”.  Cars are my thing.  I prefer them to be as big and tough looking as possible, but I also like them fast, sporty, and sometimes even tiny and cute, like this.  Isn’t it cute?!! (There’s actually one just like that for sale near us, but unfortunately it’s not going to fit Hot Husband, the boys and our 113 lb. dog inside it for a camping trip.)  I totally want one of those when the kids move out.

Anyway, the Charger was a really nice car, but it had some issues (some of which it’s had since the day I bought it) and a decision had to be made about whether to fix the issues or trade it in for something with 4 wheel drive.  I’m an independant type of girl, so having to rely on people to push me out of driveways and parking lots last winter didn’t sit well with me.  So Hot Husband & I decided it was time to get me another truck.

Or at least, that’s what he thought.

If I could go back in time and change just one decision I’ve made, it would be my decision to trade in my 1st Ram quad cab.  I cried the day I got rid of it, and I’ve regretted that decision ever since.  I knew if I was going to get another truck it would have to live up to that one, and I really didn’t think it was going to be possible.  Our local dealerships didn’t have anything close, but one of them did have 2 H3’s.  I’ve dreamed of owning a Hummer for about 10 years, and last Friday my dream came true.

I honestly thought I’d never have one, but I’m here to tell you that hard work, determination and perseverence pays off!  Don’t ever give up on your dreams.

As for the rest of my absence, balancing work, motherhood, responsibilities as a Landlord and everything else is tough.  I feel it most in the summer when the kids want to swim in the pool, and since I need to supervise them that often means the blog takes a back seat while I find projects to keep me occupied outdoors.  There’s never a lack of weeding to be done, and this year Saleem, one of Hot Husband’s students, made me a couple of window boxes so I’ve been busy shopping for and planting flowers.  He did a fabulous job with them, didn’t he?  Thanks, Saleem!

{Yusef & Carly; Just Married}

While many were enjoying picnics and fireworks on the 4th of July, Hot Husband & I had the pleasure of celebrating Yusef & Carly’s wedding day with them. And although it had rained every day of the week prior to their event, we were blessed with my favorite wedding day weather…bright blue skies with big, puffy clouds and a nice breeze to take the edge off of the heat. I couldn’t have asked for a better day to create wedding images.

We weren’t sure how much traffic we would encounter on the way down to Manalapan, NJ, so we’d factored in a couple of extra hours for travel, just in case. We ended up not needed most of it, but it gave us time to head over to Yusef’s parent’s house to get some shots of him before we met up with Carly. As always, here are some of my favorites from their special day. I had a really hard time keeping it down to a manageable number for a blog post!

Yusef is a natural in front of the camera. Doesn’t he look fantastic?

Carly was just finishing up when we arrived.

She looked stunning in her Jim Hjelm gown.

Yusef & Carly had their ceremony at St. Thomas More in Manalapan, NJ. I just love the way he’s looking at her in this image.

After the ceremony we drove to the Jersey shore for some images on the beach. I absolutely *love* the ocean, so I was super excited about this from the moment they told me their plans to do this. I’m so glad we had such a fabulous day for it!

I have a lot of great images of just the two of them on the beach, but this is one of my favorites.

The Father/Daughter dance. Yes, her eyes are closed, but she looks so happy to share the moment with her Dad. Closed eyes aren’t necessarily a deal-breaker for me.

The Mother/Son dance.

Last, but not least, the rings.

{Letchworth}

Saturday Hot Husband and I celebrated our 8 year Anniversary with a camping trip at Letchworth State Park in Castile, NY.  Although it rained regularly during our stay, we managed to squeeze in time for some hiking and a few pictures.

This was the only “kid” we had with us.  The other two have been spending the week at their Aunt’s.  It’s really strange being childless for a week.

And one more of my Hot Husband.
