{Ashley & Honorio; Just Married}

Yesterday was the start of my much anticipated 2009 wedding season, and I was thrilled that Ashley & Honorio were my first couple of the year.  Michele and I had a lot of fun with them during their Engagement Session, and I knew the wedding wouldn’t be any different.

It was raining when Michele, Missy and I arrived at the Vinehurst Inn to get pictures of Ashley and her Bridesmaids getting ready, but Ashley had come to terms with the weather and was in good spirits. Doesn’t she look gorgeous?

I loved the detail on the back of her dress.

The ceremony was held at St. Gabriels Church in Hammondsport, NY.  The ceremony was complete with tears, laughter, and love.  It was perfect.

We had to do formals during a short break in the rain, and we finished just in time.  Ashley and Honorio had a huge wedding party, but they were so cooperative and great fun to work with!

Do you recognize these two?  It was great seeing Jillian and Nate again!  Their 1st anniversary is almost here.

We snuck off for a few minutes to get some pictures of the view.  The reception was held at Heron Hill Winery, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the location.  The view is to die for, and there are lots of covered spots that allow you to take pictures of the view without getting wet if it happens to be raining.

Back at the reception.  I couldn’t resist posting this one.  I love Ashley’s expression as Honorio retrieves the garter.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t get in trouble for posting this one, but OH. MY. GOD.  This guy’s Michael Jackson impersonation during “Billy Jean” had me dying!  I had the pleasure of working with DJ Hatch again, and I cannot say enough good things about him.  I want to take him with me to every wedding.  If you’re planning a wedding and you want the best of the best where DJ’s are concerned, you need him.

I love this shot of Ashley and Honorio gettin’ their dance on.

Can you believe I almost left without taking any pictures of the rings??!

Ashley and Honorio, thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding day, for being such a great couple, for allowing me to bring a “posse”, and for the Dunkin’ Donuts gift card!  I hope you have tons of fun on your honeymoon!  Give me a call when you get back.

P. S.  I also want to wish all the Dad’s out there a Happy Father’s Day!  Especially Hot Husband, who completely understands when I spend a few hours at the computer on Father’s Day because I want my Bride and Groom to see some of their wedding images before they head off on their honeymoon.  I love you, honey!

Who can resist kittens?kittensblog

I shot them playing around for about 5 minutes, and this one sat here by herself for a few seconds before lying down and falling asleep.  It was hilarious because they would come over and mess with her and she would just ignore them, lol.

{Joyce & Matt; Engaged}

I first met Joyce at Origins, which is a coffee shop that recently opened in Homer.  (I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about the fact that there’s a cool coffee shop with a great vibe nearby for me to meet clients.)  Joyce’s bubbly personality was infectious from the moment she said “hi”.  She’s outgoing, positive and fun, as are her future in-laws, and I knew I was going to have a blast as her Wedding Photographer.  Matt was over in Germany at the time, but I knew after talking with his fiance and parents that he’d be just as cool as they were.  I was right.

Joyce & Matt met Missy & I at my house Tuesday morning for their session, and we all rode over to Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca together.  In the car Joyce kept exclaiming how much fun she was having, and I kept telling her the fun hadn’t even started yet.  I honestly don’t know how anyone could possibly be in a bad mood when she’s around, lol.

It started to drizzle right after we arrived, so we started out under cover.

The drizzle only lasted a few minutes, and then we were able to make use of the scenery.

To my couples:  it’s *totally* OK not to smile in pictures.  In fact, sometimes I might ask you not to smile.

There’s something about this one that I really like.

Confession time:  I’m not going to lie, I do a lot of Engagement Sessions at parks, and sometimes I worry that I’ll get stuck in a rut and come home with the same ol’ stuff I’ve shot before.  What I forget sometimes is that each couple is different, and it’s impossible to get the same pictures when I’m working with different personalities each time.  I think these next images are going to become some of my all-time favorites.  The light is great, the location is beautiful, and the connection between Joyce & Matt is undeniable.

You knew there was a ring shot coming.  Joyce’s ring is gorgeous, and I’ve never seen one like it.  It’s a tension setting, so the middle diamond is floating, held together by those two prongs.  Nice job, Matt!
