Lora & Brian drove up from Fishkill this weekend to visit family and take care of some wedding-related tasks, and we took some time Saturday morning to shoot their Engagement Session. I always tell my couple’s that the best light is right after sunrise or right before sunset and not, as people commonly think, right at midday. Lora & Brian were the first couple to take me up on an early morning shoot since Lora was taking the bridesmaid’s dress shopping in the evening. God bless them…they got up at 5:30 am to get to my house at 7:30. It was worth it, though, you just don’t get that nice, warm glow at noon. Lora’s parent’s also drove up to meet me prior to the session, and I got a lot of slack from Hot Husband for not offering them a cup of coffee when they arrived. I’m publicly apologizing to them for not being a better hostess…I have such a one-track mind when I’m preparing for a session that I never even thought about it. I promise to be more sociable the next time I see you!

After taking advantage of the early morning sun and the Country Club that surrounds our house, and a stop at Dunkin’ Donuts, we headed over to Meyer’s Park in Lansing to get some pictures with the lighthouse. I had no idea we even had a lighthouse near us, much less 3 of them, so I have to thank Lora & Brian for that one. And yes, they are in the picture, you just have to look close!

Our next stop was Stewart Park in Ithaca, NY. From there you can see the other 2 lighthouses and other cool spots for photos.

Replicating the look of a Fuji Panorama camera that shoots 6×17 images.

And a 10×20. Photographer’s normally stay away from centering the subject, but I think it works here. If you look really close you can see one white and one red lighthouse.

This is my absolute favorite image of the day.

But I also adore these two!

Thanks for such a great time you two, and for the coffee! I’m looking forward to the wedding!
