Ashley and Honorio were guests at Jillian and Nate’s August wedding, and booked me shortly thereafter for their wedding in July. To say they’re wedding connoisseurs is an understatement. I can’t remember the exact number of weddings they have been to or in this year, but it’s a lot. Needless to say, it’s helped them tremendously in choosing the vendors for their own wedding! I was honored when they chose me to be their photographer, and I’m looking forward to seeing Nate and Jillian again at Ashley and Honorio’s wedding!
They really wanted their Engagement session done in the fall, and I can’t say I blame them, so yesterday we headed over to Ashley’s home town of Watkins Glenn to create some magic.

I’m so glad we were able to find some trees that still had color!

Ashley was a little unsure what to “do” as the main subject in the picture, so Honorio kept giving her ideas. She’d turn around to listen to him and he’d tell her to turn back towards the camera. That happened 3 or 4 times, and she laughed harder and harder each time. Before the session I’d told them that most of my couple’s can be heard during the session saying “I don’t know what we’re supposed to do.” That’s fine because they usually laugh right afterwards! This was a perfect example.

I was certain Honorio would know how to work the camera after that, and I was right!

There are so many beautiful locations for pictures at Watkins Glenn State Park!

I was so excited when I saw this sign! I don’t remember ever seeing a lover’s lane there before.

The park is a huge gorge, and there’s not a lot of light at the bottom. I had another local photographer with me, and I decided it was a great opportunity to use some off camera flash for the waterfall pictures above. (Thanks Michele! It was great working with you!) The problem with it is that people tend to fall back into “I’m having my picture taken and have to look and smile at the camera” mode when there’s a softbox pointed at them. I began to realize that we were too conspicuous, so we put the off camera flash away and I sent them up the trail a bit. After a quick lens-switch I was back to getting some natural interaction between them.

Ashley conquered her lifelong fear of the wooden bridge for this shot.

We headed over to the lake at dusk, and I loved the lights on the pier. I took another opportunity to try something different, and I think this is my favorite image from the session.

Thanks for a fun afternoon you two! I hope you enjoyed yourselves!
