{float wraps}

I always mean to order samples of cool products to offer my clients, but for some reason I never really get around to it.  Well, a couple of weeks ago I managed to sit down and figure out exactly what I was interested in ordering, and I placed orders for 2 of those products.   The first one is called a float wrap, and is a photographic print wrapped around masonite.  Padding is added between the print and the masonite to protect it and to give it a raised look, and the print is then protected with laminate.  The back has paper backing and a 3/4″ thick gatorboard block with holes for hanging vertically or horizontally.  The gatorboard block allows the float wrap to extend out from the wall, which creates a subtle drop shadow on the wall when the light hits it.  (You can see it to the left in this image.)  I love the look of it!

One of the reasons I always hesitate to sit down and place orders for samples is because I have such a hard time deciding which images to use.  I’ve loved this picture of Joyce & Matt’s August, 2009 wedding, so I decided to go with it.  (Plus Joyce works at the local coffee shop I meet clients at, so I knew I could get her valuable opinion on whether or not she loved the product and thought I should offer them.)  This one hangs on the wall above my desk, as you can see here.  Both of these are 16×24, which is a perfect size if you don’t want any of the image lost when you order.

When I showed it to Joyce the first time she LOVED it, went home and told Matt about it, and they decided to order one as their Valentine’s gift to each-other.  Theirs came the other day, and they picked a different image.  Here’s the front.

The back.  You can see all of the holes for hanging.

The edge.

Another view of the back.

Cat’s love them, too, I guess.  Thursday popped out from behind to take a closer look while I was shooting.

Float wraps are available in sizes from 8×10-20×30.  If you’re interested in pricing send me an email!

{Happy New Year!}

Happy New Year!  2009 was an amazing year for Lisa Walsh Photography, and I have so many people to thank for it.  Thank you to Hot Husband for your support and for believing in me.  Thank you for being my rock when I had doubts, for being my sounding board when I needed someone to bounce ideas off of, and for being my co-pilot through this crazy ride.  Thank you to my kids for your unconditional love, for understanding that Mom’s work doesn’t end when the camera is put away, for being so happy with takeout when I lost track of time sitting at the computer and realized I hadn’t fed you dinner,(I know that’s hard, lol.) and thank you for dragging me away from work to play the Wii with you.  Thank you to my peers, who share my belief that by working together we can better the photography industry, and for the referrals that have played a huge part in allowing my business to grow.  I look forward to doing the same for you!

A new year deserves a new website, and I’m thrilled to announce that the brand-spankin’ new lisa-walsh.com is live!  After 2 weeks of hard work I was so happy to share it that I couldn’t wait another day.  Did you notice the blog had a makeover, too?

I can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring.  Happy New Year!

{Behind The Scenes}

Like any other photographer on the planet, the off season is a time to work on behind the scenes stuff that goes into running a business.  You know…making goals for next year, thinking about advertising, working on marketing materials, updating pricing info, and the big one…a website makeover.

I had the pleasure of working with 10 couples in 2009, and that means I have a ton of fresh new images to show off.  Using Showit to design my site means I can do much more than just insert images into a template.  I have the ability to recreate my site from the ground up, and although it’s time consuming I love having complete control over the look of my website.  I spent a good part of the day yesterday working on the update, and I wanted to show you a little sneak peek.  I’m hoping to have the new site live on 1/1/10, so be sure to check it out and let me know what you think!

{Thank You}

Now that my 2009 wedding season is over and I’ve had a couple of weeks to breathe (kind of), I’ve been reflecting on what an awesome year it was for Lisa Walsh Photography, and I have you to thank.

A business without goals isn’t a business at all…it’s a hobby.  I am thrilled to say that I met *all* of my goals for my business this year, and I couldn’t have done it without you.  It’s heartening to know that a small business can grow even in tough economic times.  I truly believe that if you love what you do it will show, and if you treat people well and deliver on your promises word of mouth will spread like wildfire.  I can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring.

To my very awesome couples, again I say thank you.  Thank you for the opportunity to share your wedding day with you.  Thank you for your your complete trust in me.  Thank you for not caring about a little rain on your wedding day.  Thank you for being so darn laid back when things were crazy.  Thank you for keeping me company in the H3 when your limo never showed up.  Thank you for being so chill when the flowers weren’t right.  Thank you for letting me bring Missy and/or Michele along so they could gain experience as wedding photographers.  Thank you for treating me like a friend.  A girl couldn’t ask for better clients.  You all rock.

As a token of my gratitude I’m going to run a special on digital downloads for the rest of 2009.  For the month of December only (what’s left of it, anyway) digital downloads will be $1.  Yes, $1. (They are normally $15.)  Go ahead and download as many as you like, and make sure you let your friends and family know, because they might like to have a couple for themselves.  Remember, these can be used on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites, and can be printed up to a 4×6.  (Anything larger won’t look good.  Trust me.)  I’m also offering a 10% discount on prints.  All discounts have been entered, so please let me know if they’re not reflected when you check out.

Since a post just isn’t right without a picture, I’ll leave you with a spread from Ryan & Renae’s wedding album design I’m currently working on.

Again, THANK YOU!!
