I always mean to order samples of cool products to offer my clients, but for some reason I never really get around to it. Well, a couple of weeks ago I managed to sit down and figure out exactly what I was interested in ordering, and I placed orders for 2 of those products. The first one is called a float wrap, and is a photographic print wrapped around masonite. Padding is added between the print and the masonite to protect it and to give it a raised look, and the print is then protected with laminate. The back has paper backing and a 3/4″ thick gatorboard block with holes for hanging vertically or horizontally. The gatorboard block allows the float wrap to extend out from the wall, which creates a subtle drop shadow on the wall when the light hits it. (You can see it to the left in this image.) I love the look of it!
One of the reasons I always hesitate to sit down and place orders for samples is because I have such a hard time deciding which images to use. I’ve loved this picture of Joyce & Matt’s August, 2009 wedding, so I decided to go with it. (Plus Joyce works at the local coffee shop I meet clients at, so I knew I could get her valuable opinion on whether or not she loved the product and thought I should offer them.) This one hangs on the wall above my desk, as you can see here. Both of these are 16×24, which is a perfect size if you don’t want any of the image lost when you order.

When I showed it to Joyce the first time she LOVED it, went home and told Matt about it, and they decided to order one as their Valentine’s gift to each-other. Theirs came the other day, and they picked a different image. Here’s the front.

The back. You can see all of the holes for hanging.

The edge.

Another view of the back.

Cat’s love them, too, I guess. Thursday popped out from behind to take a closer look while I was shooting.

Float wraps are available in sizes from 8×10-20×30. If you’re interested in pricing send me an email!
